2018 Mitsubishi Mirage
  • Company recognized as “Best All-Around Performance Brand” and “Best Economic Performance Brand”
  • Mitsubishi Mirage awarded “Best Economic Performance Car” and “Best 5 All-Around Performance”

CYPRESS, Calif. – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has been recognized as the “Best All-Around Performance Brand” and “Best Economic Performance Brand” for 2018 by leading research company, Automotive Science Group (ASG). In addition to the overall brand awards, the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage earned the “Best Economic Performance Award” and the “Best 5 All-Around Performance Award” honors.

The ASG study found the Mitsubishi brand to excel in three key areas: environmental, social, and economic performance when analyzing all 2018 vehicle offerings from a field comprised of 33 automotive companies. Following the assessment, Mitsubishi Motors outperformed the average brand by 16 percentage points, showing the best all-around value and performance in 2018. The report noted, “ASG found Mitsubishi models with the highest consistent performance across all models, earning Mitsubishi the `Best Economic Performance Brand’ and `Best All-Around Performance Brand’ of 2018.”

In ASG’s data-driven assessment, the “Best Economic Performance Award” was given to the Mitsubishi Mirage for the second consecutive year after the vehicle outperformed 1,664 vehicles assessed for model year 2018. ASG noted that the Mitsubishi Mirage, “holds the smallest life-cycle carbon footprint of any conventional powertrain, at 301 grams C02-e per mile driven life-time.” The report went on to say that the Mirage, “also holds claim to the lowest cost of ownership and best economic performance of any model year 2018 car in the North American market.”

The Mirage also received the “Best 5 All-Around Performance Award” after ASG found the vehicle to offer the best value in North America, with the lowest purchase and operating costs over the first six and a half years of vehicle ownership. The vehicle landed in the Best 5 among 356 conventional and alternatively powered vehicles in the small car segment. The Outlander and Outlander PHEV were also recently honored by ASG and received the “Best 5 All-Around Performance” award.

“Mitsubishi has found a winning combination it has implemented across its North American lineup, one that adheres to the engineering principles embodied in the Mirage,” said Colby Self, Managing Director at ASG. “Mitsubishi builds cars and SUVs with a streamlined light-weight vehicle architecture, with fuel efficient engines that reduce operating costs and carbon emissions, and with a retail price that cuts the competition. By adding a plug-in powertrain to the 2018 Outlander SUV, Mitsubishi reveals a smart path for a brand with boundless potential.”

Spring Road Trip Tips

With the Spring weather we are experiencing in the north, you’re probably making plans to head south for a week and spend some time in the sun. However, if you’re going to take a road trip, there are a lot of situations you need to be prepared for. Follow these Spring road trip tips for a safe and fun drive!

road trip tips

One of the most important parts of planning a road trip is getting your car inspected. You don’t want to break down hundreds of miles from home! Check your tires, get your battery tested, get your oil changed, and check your fluids.

It’s a good idea to have a plan for the trip, but don’t plan too strictly, because a road trip requires some flexibility. Make sure you have plenty of time for extra gas and bathroom stops—you might even want to drop by some roadside attractions. In the same vein, plan the time you leave to avoid traffic as much as possible. It’ll help you save money on gas and a whole lot of frustration if you aren’t sitting still on the highway for hours.

Finally, don’t let yourself get bored! Bring plenty of entertainment options, like audiobooks, music playlists, and toys and games to keep everyone occupied. Time will go by a lot faster if you’re keeping your mind busy.

How to Clean Your Car for Spring

It’s that time of year when spring cleaning begins. However, there’s a spot people always seem to forget when doing their other chores—their car. Here’s how to clean your car for spring.

how to clean your car for spring

Separate Trash and Things to Keep

Over the cold winter months, you may have thrown food wrappers and belongings into your back seat that you just didn’t feel like carrying inside. Now’s the time to get those out of your car. Use a plastic bin for things you want to keep, but toss all your garbage in a trash bag.

Invest in Car-Cleaning Wipes

Sometimes people get ambitious and plan to detail their entire interior like-new, but if you just don’t have time for that, invest in some wipes that are friendly for the materials in your car and get to annoying places like cupholders and your steering wheel.

Scrub and Vacuum

Get the dirt out of tight places first with a brush, then vacuum. Remove the floor mats too, and shake those out before vacuuming. Don’t forget the trunk!

Clean the Outside

This is what you might envision when you think of cleaning your car. Soap it up, hose it down, and remember to do your windows and wheels last.

Another useful thing to do in the spring is to go over basic car maintenance. For more help with that, visit our experts at Ken Pollock Mitsubishi.

New Year’s Resolutions for Car Owners

As we kick off the New Year, we all commit to resolutions dedicated to making positive changes in our lives. Since we spend a lot of time around cars at Ken Pollock Mitsubishi, we thought we would share some car-related resolutions that will help keep them in tip-top shape. The following are our top two New Year’s resolutions for car owners.

New Year’s Resolutions for Car Owners

  1. Care for Yourself by Caring for Your Car – The best way to keep your car in the best possible condition is to have routine maintenance performed on it. Stick to an oil change schedule and check your tire pressure and tread regularly. In addition, read your car owner’s manual for specific information on how to best take care of your car.
  2. Be a More Fuel-Efficient Driver – A lot of people make a New Year’s resolution concerning their finances, and we think it’s a great idea to extend this resolution to your car by practicing fuel-efficient driving habits that will keep a little extra money in your pocket. Avoid unnecessary acceleration and speeding, use your car’s cruise control whenever possible, and avoid idling. Idling wastes fuel unnecessarily and is also harmful to the environment, so adopting fuel-efficient driving habits will make your life a little less wasteful and a little greener.

Happy New Year from us at Ken Pollock Mitsubishi! We hope it is a great year for everyone, and know that these resolutions can help make it even better.

How to Get Your Car Ready for Winter

car ready for winter

Is your car ready for winter? With these recommended steps from Ken Pollock Mitsubishi you can be sure that your vehicle is set to face the cold season.

Replace Your Wiper Blades

When the snow is really coming down, you’d better hope that your windshield wipers are up to the task. Ensure clear visibility all winter long by changing your wiper blades before the season begins.

Get an Oil Change

You should be getting oil changes regularly in accordance with the recommended mileage in your owner’s manual. Don’t hesitate to get one done before winter arrives to be sure your engine is running its best. It’s also a great opportunity for you to have your car looked at by a professional to be sure everything is in good condition and set for the season.

Check Your Tires

The roads in Pennsylvania will no doubt be slippery with ice and snow during the winter. For the best traction and most control over your car, you need to be sure that your tires are in good condition. Take a look at the tread to make sure it’s not too worn down and check your tires’ air pressure. Keeping your tires in good shape throughout the winter is one of the easiest and most effective steps you can take towards safe winter driving.
