Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross May Win Golden Steering Wheel Award

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has yet to arrive here in the United States and won’t until early next year. However, it is already receiving praise, including being on the shortlist to receive the Golden Steering Wheel award.

This award is given out each year by Auto Bild, a German automotive magazine. The Eclipse Cross is one of a dozen small SUVs competing for the final award. Soon, an expert group of judges will test and compare each of these vehicles before choosing the winner.

“The Eclipse Cross has generated a huge amount of interest and this nomination proves just how eagerly awaited it is as well as the impact it is destined to have on its segment. It’s already amassed thousands of admirers and we’re looking forward to seeing their enthusiasm turn into a lot of votes,” said Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK.

We at Ken Pollock Mitsubishi cannot wait until the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross makes it way to our showroom floor. We love its sleek styling, distinctive lighting, impressive array of available technology, and everything else about it. If you want to be one of the first to drive home in this all-new model, give us a call.

Preparing for Your Road Trip

road trip

A summer vacation usually means some kind of road trip to your destination. No matter where you’re going, there are a few things to keep in mind before you hit the road.

Avoid Fatigue

Make sure you are well-rested and eat something before you get on the road. If you do find yourself tired, pull over and stretch your legs. Don’t try to battle fatigue by driving through it. Drivers who are absurdly tired should put the seat back and take a nap for an hour or so. A cool drink or caffeinated beverage can help you stay awake too. And having a snack certainly never hurts!

Keep Track of Kids

A long road trip can be tiring, but you should never leave your kids in a locked car under any circumstances. Even if the windows are down or air conditioning is on, a child’s body heats up faster than an adults. Before you leave, make a plan for how you are going to manage the kids during stops. Make a note or some kind of reminder to check the backseat before you go inside too. The last thing you need is to run a child to the emergency room due to heatstroke.

Maintenance

Having your car professionally serviced prior to a road trip can significantly reduce the amount of mechanical problems you encounter on the road. All drivers should have their cars serviced, even if they keep up with routine maintenance. Check your owner’s manual for routine maintenance required by your car.

At Ken Pollock Mitsubishi, we are happy to help you with any of your pre-road trip service needs. Stop by today for a regular maintenance check!

How to Do an Oil Change at Home

oil change at homeSometimes, it can be nice to know some basic repair skills, like tire swaps and changing your oil, for sticky situations. The team at Ken Pollock Mitsubishi is here to help! If you’re ever in a bind, here are a few steps to help you get started on an oil change at home.

First, you have to find the correct oil and filter for your car. Check your owner’s manual or ask them to look it up for you at the parts store if you aren’t sure. You’ll also need a socket wrench, an oil filter wrench, a funnel, something to catch the old oil as it pours out, and rags.

You want to change the oil when the car is warm, but not blazing hot. Let the engine idle for a few minutes to warm up the oil and help it flow better. Then, locate your drain plug. If you don’t have enough room, you’ll have to jack your car up a couple of feet off the ground.

Put the oil pan under the drain plug, and then use the socket wrench to turn the plug to the left to loosen it. Let the old oil pour out into the pan until it slows to a drip. Replace the plug and then locate the oil filter. Use the filter wrench to loosen it and then use your hand to remove the filter. Put some motor oil on the new filter to keep it from sticking and slide it into place.

Now that your new filter is in place and your drain plug is back on, you can start adding new oil. Pop the hood open and find your oil well, and simply pour as much oil in as your owner’s manual calls for. Check periodically with your dipstick to see if the oil level is high enough.

If this seems like a bit much or you’d prefer to have it done by our well-trained mechanics, stop by Ken Pollock Mitsubishi today! We’d be happy to help you out with any of your repair or maintenance needs.
